About Me

I love plants!  Edible and Wild Edible plants are especially close to my heart.   I have studied Native plants of the Pacific Northwest for almost 10 years, and enjoy incorporating these into existing landscapes to help support our urban wildlife.  The synergy of Edibles, Natives and Ornamental plants became my niche several years ago when I first began designing landscapes.

My goal is to create landscapes that not only support our need to have a beautiful garden, but also provide our favorite edible plants and native species.  While this idea perhaps seems best suited for larger properties, the reality is that even folks on small lots can have a diverse landscape that is sustainable, beautiful, and delicious.

I am an OSU Extension Master Gardener, have my certification in Permaculture Design, and am a recommended landscape designer for the Backyard Habitat Program.  I have also completed and served as an instructor for the OSU Extension Organic Gardener Certification Program.  I am a Garden Educator for OSU Extension and Metro, and teach classes for Portland Nursery and The City of Portland.  I also serve as the Garden Coordinator for the Better Together Garden in front of City Hall; a food demonstration garden in the heart of Portland.  All of the food grown in this garden is donated to Elm Court Loaves and Fishes downtown.
